Halloween Parties

October 31, 2013

Halloween week was full of lots of parties and candy.  The kids all dressed up for gymnastics and tumbling on Wednesday.  They all looked so cute and ready for Halloween.  The next party was in Max's class at school.  The kids decorated pumpkin milk jugs and exchanged candy.

Then we went to Mary Kate's class and enjoyed some snacks and more candy!!

Pumpkin Patch

October 26, 2013

We spent the afternoon today at a local pumpkin patch.  We try to visit the pumpkin patch each fall, but this year we went to a new one from the previous years.  The kids had a blast running all around the farm area.  They had an air pillow bouncer, giant slides, peddle tractors, corn silo, ponies, hay bale maze, and much more.  We also rode a hayride to find our pumpkins for the year.  We had a good afternoon just relaxing and being together.

Our First Heartwalk

October 12, 2013

Our family was blessed this year to be able to participate in our first American Heart Heartwalk.  I got on board at work and was a team captain to help raise funds from our hospital.  My unit at the hospital set and exceeded our goal of $1000.  We had fun decorating the nurses' station and wearing heart stickers and headbands.   The day at the walk was a surreal experience for me.  It was so touching to have my family there with me as a survivor of  a congenital heart defect.  It was also special to be there as a part of a hospital team.  We got to meet each other's families and learn who everyone was "walking for" that day.  I hope we participate in this walk for many years to come.

Trace & Ashton's Birthday

October 12, 2013

This weekend we celebrate our nephews' birthdays at a local park.  They both love to play soccer so that is what we did!  I can't wrap my mind around the thought that they are now 12 and 10 years old.  Time flies!

During the party, Jay's sister, Shannon, let all the kids in on a big family surprise.  She announced to them that they were finally moving back from North Carolina.  Her kids didn't know what to say.  They were in complete shock!  I'm so glad the cat is out of the bag . . . I don't like secrets.  Max was cute because he just grinned and smiled the rest of the night.  He is over the moon that his best friend and cousin is going to be home forever.
