Hendersonville Triathlon

August 23, 2014

Max is feeling much better this week as he enters another triathlon.  His fever and symptoms from strep throat are gone and he is ready.  He did great at this race last year and was looking forward to it.  It was his day!  He had a great swim, best transition time yet, smooth bike ride, and a very quick run.  All those positives gave him his goal of the summer.  FIRST PLACE!  Yes, he made it to the top of the podium this summer.  He was very happy with himself and super excited that both sets of grandparents were there.  He is already talking about next summer and the races.  Love this kid!

Fins & Feet Triathlon

August 17, 2014

Max had his second triathlon this morning.  He was diagnosed with strep throat just two days ago so he isn't totally feeling himself yet.  But being my Max he wanted to race today.  He did a great job again, but really felt his fatigue in the run portion of the race.  He finished with a Third Place, but he was just glad to see the finish line.  He was one tired boy!

Day at the Falls

August 7, 2014

Amanda and I set off on an adventure today.  We took all the kids except Micah (she's only 2) to a waterfall that is within driving distance.  We left early and stopped for breakfast and then headed down the 2 lane road to the falls.  Once there we suited everyone up with backpacks of snacks, water, and towels,  Then we began the trek down the hill to the creek.  Once at the creek we hiked for the best part of an hour up to the falls.  The kids were amazed at all the fish, rocks, pools, and streams that made up the creek.  I am sure the look on all our face when we saw the falls was priceless.  They are gorgeous and a huge playground for all ages.  We spent the remainder of the day with them swimming, climbing, and jumping.  I am so glad we had the courage to take this day trip by ourselves.  I think our kids were just as impressed with us as we were with ourselves.  It is always great to get some Mommy Cool Points every now and then.

Dance Begins

August 4, 2014

This year's adventure for the girls is going to be DANCE!  The mommies of the bunch discussed it and decided we would try dance.  We have done gymnastics for two years and thought it was time to try a new sport.  The girls are thrilled about their leos and tutus with tap and ballet shoes.  Moms are not allowed to watch and there are no windows to the room . . . so I guess we will wait and see.  They sure do seem excited each week.  I can't wait until recital time.
