Our Vegas Getaway

April 12-14, 2012

Jay had a meeting this month in Las Vegas and for the first time since kid-os I decided to tag along.  It was a wonderful few days away.  I got to kick back, sleep late, read my book without interuption, watch adult TV (like The Today's Show, whoa), eat out fancy, and just be us.  Don't get me wrong, by our last day I was wanting to snuggle my babies, but I did enjoy time with just Jay.  We

planned this trip to Vegas to be laid back.  Last time we went we crammed everything in that was possible.  This time we left it all open for opportunity.  We did lots of walking and looking, some shopping, quite a bit of eating, and a night out to the Blue Man Group Show.  We also spent time taking photos of the characters with new stuffed M&Ms.  Each time we got a new photo, we sent it back to our M&Ms.  They were thrilled with the photos and the anticpation of their new stuffed M&Ms visiting Vegas.  What a great trip!  Thank you, honey, I can't wait until the next one!  

Tristan & Kayla's Birthdays

April 2012

While they were home for Easter we celebrated Tristan and Kayla's Birthdays.  Tristan turned 7 this year and Kayla turned 9 . .  whoa!  Too big too fast.  They both wanted to go to El Ray for the traditional whip cream in your face birthday celebration.  They both got exactly what they wanted!!  Mary Kate, however, has decided she nevers wants to celebrate there!  lol!

Easter at the Kelley's

After brunch at my parents' house we headed over to Jay's parents' house for more Easter extravaganza.  The kids were ready to hunt eggs for one last time.  Mary Kate got a head start and slowing started moving around her corner of the yard.  She continued to inspect each egg's contents as she placed them in the basket.  Max raced around the yard like a big kid picking up as many as he could find.  The kids all got lots of candy and more quarters.  Jacob got to show off his ups as he leaped to retrieve a egg from a high branch.  We closed the night with an Easter dinner of lots of yummies.

  Max had a great Easter this year as he is really starting to understand its meaning.  He has been blessed with fabulous Sunday morning and Wednesday night teachers.  They are all filling his head with biblical truths and lessons.  This year had been especially wonderful because his new knowledge had opened many questions and discussions about what we believe.  He loves to read his Story Bible with us and learn about the different events and how they pertain to us now.  It is so fascinating to see him connect his life with God.  I cannot wait to see what the future holds for his spiritual life.  I really think it is getting ready to start blossoming.

Easter at The Parsons

After a great service at church we went to my parents for an Easter brunch.  Bebe and Big Daddy cooked breakfast for Nanny and Pa and the four of us.  While we were there the kids both got to swing on the rope.  Mary Kate has learned how to hang on and swing.  She giggles and yells "high" the entire time she swings.  During the egg hunt, Max found the golden egg.  Both of the kids came away with lots of quarters and dollars from their eggs.  They had a blast and were ready for another egg hunt . . .

Flashlight Culdesac Hunt

Our neighbors had their annual flashlight egg hunt this weekend.  Max and Mary Kate had a big time hunting the eggs.  Max found a whole basket full.  Mary Kate got lots of candy.  She loved taking the time to open each egg and stuff the contents in her mouth before moving on.

Springtime on Parsons Farm

This year we celebrated Spring Birthdays and Easter as a large Parsons group. We all met at Uncle Tony's new land and pot lucked a wonderful meal. Big Daddy cooked Prime Rib on the grill and everyone else brought sides to go with the meal. We had a great day playing around the farm and relaxing. The kids had a blast riding the toys and driving the go cart. Some of the kids were even brave enough to walk the cold creek. The bigger kids rode the tractor and golf cart. The men all brought their guns and set up some target practice with objects and skeet. We finished off the day with an Easter Egg hunt for all ages. It was a day full of quality time spent with family. My kids love "going to the farm" as we have started calling it. Max always looks forward to the next time (& so do we)!
